I am so glad this weekend is over
Let me begin with Tuesday night.
Tuesday it rained, all day! So the wife and I are about to go to bed when I notice a wet spot in the hall way floor. It seems we have a leak in the roof. Great stuff. I tell Rachel, "I will just take tomorrow afternoon off and fix it",
Wednesday, Get to work, tell Jim, "I need this afternoon off so I can fix the hole in my roof", Jim says, "Not unless you can come in tonight and make up the time". Hmmmm, I cannot work wednesday night because that is when Cherish has Kung-Fu and I go with her. So I get pissed, and end up working wednesday afternoon. No roof fix.
Thursday, I work for Joe till about noon when I come home for lunch, I get here and my father is outside looking at the breaker box. I figure he is being a nice guy and going to fix the roof, though I don't really know why he would be looking at the breaker box. He tells me, "You have no hot water". Well isn't that just great. We look at alot of stuff and he tells me that he thinks we have a busted pipe under the house, and since him and I forgot to cut a trap door when we laid the hardwood floor, we will now have to cut a large hole in my nice floor. I say wait, lets call a plumber and see what they say.
Thursday, Later in the day. I go ahead and call in to the library, though I know Jim will think I am just doing it because he pissed me off. Well, the plumbers show and say, "Your hot water tank is busted and since the fool who put it in did not leave enough room for it to get out, you will have to knock a hole in the wall.", well now things are starting to really look down. They tell me that they will leave and for me to knock the hole in the wall, go buy a new tank and call them back when we get it. I start beating the hole in the wall. I don't really get to far, but get enough done, and my father and I go get a tank, and decide to finish tomorrow.
Friday, I have to work for Joe for a few hours in the morning. I get back home and my father has not yet started working so I wait for him to show. We work most of the day and the only thing that gets done is we relize we don't have all the parts, and we have to replace the floor also where the tank is. This is a fucking great week.
Saturday, We lay the new floor, finish buying the pieces we need, and get it all put together. Lets turn the water on. Oh shit, we have leaks! Now we have to CUT the pipes back off because we sodered them together, and now have no way to tighten them back up. So I run to the store to get the pieces needed to finish. We get everything back together and no leaks. It is now time to finish for the day. We will have to continue tomorrow but at least the tank is in and we have hot water again downstairs. The wife and I watch "Super Size Me".
Sunday, we still have to make a door, and fix the roof. Did both of these today and started all the clean up. Got alot of the finishing done to everything and only need to finish cleaning the office and fixing the last bit of hole. What a week. I love being a home owner :-)

WEEEE, the sites back
Due to hosting a inotify kernel here, I was down for awhile. I have removed the kernel and I guess straightened things out so the blog is back. Lets hope that it stays back.
Ubuntu
Had a few rough things happen today, but I got the book up on the wiki. Here it is. I also am looking into joining the Debian Doc team that way I can help them out also and more than likely start trying to become a DD(Debian Developer). Lets wish me luck :-)

Reload
I just finished a nice reload on the main system. Instead of using three partitions, I am now using four. Now I have /boot , swap, /home, and / I went with this because if I need to reload now I can keep my home directory, so that I can work on things and not fear losing them. I have always been a /boot, sway, / man but now I have changed. Both the laptop and Sony are this way now. Also I must say installing beagle from scratch from my tutorial is nice. :-)

Amazing
It really amazes me when I find comments on my blog. I truely do not think people read this. I don't know why, even though I read like ninty blogs a day(that is counting each person on all the planet sites.) I still can't comprehend people reading my crap. Huh, who knows.
Ubuntu Docs
I have been getting some pretty good Wiki stuff done lately but nothing else really. I have started to notice that less and less people are writing docs that are going up. I also noticed that the doc-list is dieing down. I really hope people don't stop writing docs, but I am sure it is just because of the weekend or something.
The Book
This weekend I am hoping to establish a wiki page for the "Learning Ubuntu Linux" page and also hoping to get alot of meat into it. I am thinking that maybe it would be nice to have a community driven book and than have it published. That would be kinda rad. I am going to put this idea on the mailing list and see if it takes off. Hope so.

Half day off
So I only worked until about 1:30 today, so I had the rest of the day off. I filled it with much joyful fun.
First I tried to install Hoary and almost fried my laptop due to the whole laptop getting real hot real fast. I have not yet filed a bug but plan on it in the morning. So I reinstalled of a Warty on the laptop. Seems all is running well once again.
I have also watched a ton of ER lately as that is the only thing I have the Tivo recording. Long live Tivo.
I did not do to much Wiki editing today and not much work on the book either. Hope to do alot of wiki tomorrow and work on the book this coming week alot.
I am also having problems with Beagle cvs right now. Damn thing will not install.

Working for a living
Today I worked four hours!!!!!!! That is the shortest amount of time I have been scheduled during the weekdays in months. I did absulutly nothing today. Well that is a lie, I did a few things but mostly not online. Felt kinda good, but felt kinda bad since I did not get much done
Ubuntu Book
The main thing I did get done today was I started on some of the guts of the "Learning Ubuntu Linux" book and it felt good. I did not get much and alot of it was making sure I had the idea's of "Ubuntu", "Linux", "Freesoftware" down right and getting there definitions in the right spot. I will be working on some more tech stuff for it in the coming days.
Hackers and Painters
I got my copy of Hackers and Painters in the mail today. Can't wait to get the time to really get down to reading it.
Thats all for now,

Good and bad
No not a post on good and evil. Well kinda. I was working in a dentist office today setting up xray sensors and it was a hell of a time. Things would stop working for no reason what so ever. Well after about a hour I got them all set up and left. This afternoon I was called back so I could reset them up because they had all stopped working. I was not able to do so, and have to go back friday. I hate working on others computers.
Ubuntu
I was able to sneak off from work to make it to the CommunityCouncil meeting today for Ubuntu and glad I did. I was able to address some issues I had and we finally got the doc team set up. I am planning some good things for the doc team and will be addressing them soon.
Ubuntu Book
Thats right a book. I will be starting "Learning Ubuntu Linux", soon and hope to let all my faithful readers have nice snippets of the readings as they happen. Here's to good luck john.

Sorting things out
School
I was able to log into my classes for the first time today. I posted my stuff to the Critical Thinking class and checked it out, that class looks like alot of fun. My other class, Sociology, looks like it is going to be dropped. Man that class looks so hard, you have a ton of reading every week and a essay due about the reading you have done. I just don't have time for that. I hope that I can drop that class and add another to my second eight weeks tomorrow.
Ubuntu
I did not get much documentation done today, but did spend alot of time in the mailing-list working back and forth with others. Spent all day in IRC but did not really do much. Over all a very unproductive day. One thing is for sure, alot of people think I should lead the doc team. I don't know about all that. Oh, well we will see how it all goes on tuesday with the Community Council meeting.
